Basic Aftercare
With our standard aftercare, your artist should have applied a bandage of plastic wrap and medical tape to your fresh tattoo. When you get home, make sure to always handle your tattoo with freshly washed hands.
First, gently remove your bandage and discard.
Wash your tattoo with cool water and an antibacterial unscented liquid or foaming hand soap. Dial or Softsoap are recommended.
Let your tattoo air dry for 5-10 minutes or pat gently with a single use paper towel.
Once fully dry, apply a thin layer of an approved topical ointment to your tattoo. (Aquaphor, A+D, etc.) You should not see ointment sitting on your tattoo, it should be fully rubbed in and looking slightly shiny.
Repeat this wash routine 2-3 times a day for 2.5-3 weeks or until fully healed.
Saniderm Aftercare
With our Saniderm aftercare, your artist will have applied an adhesive clear bandage to your tattoo and advised you it will stay on overnight or several days. The following aftercare will cover how to remove your bandage once it has been on for 1-5 days. Always handle your healing tattoo with freshly washed hands. There will be a build of a brackish fluid, this is plasma, ink and blood. This is totally normal and is helping the healing process along.
First, take a warm shower but do not remove the bandage just yet. Removal of Saniderm while in the warm shower often results in adhesive left over on the skin.
Wait approximately 10 minutes after your shower, then gently peel a corner of the Saniderm off towards the direction of hair growth
Once the Saniderm has been removed, wash gently with antibacterial unscented liquid or foaming handsoap. Dial or Softsoap are recommended.
Once the bandage is off, follow the standard aftercare instructions until you are fully healed.
If there is elavated irration or increasing soreness, take of the bandage early. If the bandage peels up to reveal the tattoo or leak any of the fluid build up, take the bandage off.
If you have any concerns while healing, please do not hesitate to reach out to your artist for assistance or clarification.
